Denis Payan while at the first Australian Adventure Parc at Thunderbird Park. The first Adventure Parc (aka 'Aventure Parc') was built in France in 1995 by, a now well known and highly successful former paratroop officer, Denis Payan. Denis built his first 'Aventure Parc' in his home town, Serre Chevalier, which is a ski resort in the French Alps. Such was the success of this first venture, Denis built his second in 1997, and since then has built a further 19 'Aventure Parcs' throughout Europe - totalling 21. The Le Clere family - who lived and worked on the Gold Coast for many years, and who now have a 400 seat restaurant in the Serre Chevalier Ski Resort - suggested to Denis they join together and open an Adventure Parc in Australia. Through their understanding of the Aussie sense of fun and adventure, along with the tall gum trees and large-scale landscapes available at Thunderbird Park, there would be no looking back. And, voila, they were absolutely right! Denis and his right hand man, Stephan Grisot, designed this amazing course and in Denis’s own words has said: “Thunderbird Park’s 'Adventure Parc' is the most impressive park I have built because of the beautiful rainforest and majestic gum trees; they’re so tall, so straight and so impressive. And having such a variety of accommodation and camping at Cedar Creek Lodges, a great licensed restaurant along with other activities such as thunderegg fossicking, horse trail rides, laser skirmish, mini golf, swimming and bush walks, it is the perfect destination to explore, recharge and energise. I should know, I have lived in a Creek Lodge on the edge of beautiful Cedar Creek in a rainforest whilst building ‘Adventure Parc Australia’ for 3 months and it was very hard to leave!”. |
